I was SO super excited when Angie Iacobazzi of Down This Road Designs said that she was available to be our featured designer for March. She is such a super talented designer and an all-around great person. Let’s get to know her a little bit more before we meet her in person on Saturday…
Tell us a little about yourself..
I live in Sandy, Utah with my husband of 17 years and my 2 children. I love being creative with paper, scissors, paint, and anything that has do be done with my hands. I like to read, take photos, and spend time with my family. I love to preserve my families memories too.
How did you get started in the scrapbooking industry?
I started paper scrapping in 1997 after going on my honeymoon to Disney World. I had so many fun memories and photos that I wanted to have them all in one place. I stumbled upon digital scrapping in 2005 while looking for clip art and fonts for my paper scrapping. As I learned more about what digital scrapbooking was, I was very excited about how it all worked and in no time I was hooked. I started designing in 2009 by just playing around and creating random elements. I continued to learn photoshop and play around with papers and elements. I opened my first shop in June of 2009 and have been designing ever since.
What inspires you the most as you design?
EVERYTHING. Mostly the things my kids are involved with, their activities, their likes and dislikes, and just the everyday things we do.
Are you more of a morning/afternoon/evening person? When do you feel is your best designing time?
A morning person for sure!!! I have a full time job, so I have to fit it in when I can, but mostly on the weekend or my day off.
What’s your favorite product you’ve designed? What’s your best selling product?
I love my kit, Sweet Ride!!! My daughter has a yellow Cruiser and I have some fun photos of her on it!! I just wanted to create a kit that would help me capture a moment like an ordinary day bike ride. Life is an exciting adventure even if all you did today was take a bike ride or a walk or have lunch with a friend. I think the little moments are what I cherish most and I wanted to capture that in a kit.
How do you get out of a design or scrapping slump?
I scrap and take pictures, do some memory making, and that usually does the trick.
What is your greatest reward as a designer?
Seeing others use my designs on their scrapbook pages. I love to see them and read and see their memories!!!
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A mom!!
Describe your perfect day.
Wake up to a clean house, get some creative time in and probably a pedicure and not have to cook dinner.
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
Italy
