With less than a week to go before our next DNO, I wanted to take a minute to get to know our August featured designer a bit better..
How did you get started in digital scrapbooking?
I have been a freelance graphic designer for several years. About three years ago I learned about digital scrapbooking and decided to contact Jen Alyson at (now closed) Design House Digital. She gave me a shot after I designed a few kits. And I have loved it since then!
What programs and other tools do you use?
I use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
What does your workspace look like?
A desk, mac 27″ display, and laptop. My desk is usually scattered with pictures my kids draw for me.
What is your favorite product?
One of my favorites right now is my new chalkboard elements.
What inspires you most as you design?
Pinterest, vintage fabric and wallpaper, and interior design magazines!
How do you get out of a designing slump?
Deadlines always help! I try to just work my process…. start with trend research, pick a theme, color scheme, and then start. When I’m in a slump I start with things that are my favorite…. a big, complex floral.
Describe your perfect day.
I love to design…. I do design/pattern work because I really enjoy it… it’s my passion. I would start with a few hours of undisturbed design time, play with my kids outside, hike, swim or something fun, then an hour or two at the spa. Followed by dinner and a movie.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Has that changed?
A spy! Yes, it has changed. I now want to be a mom with a couple of hours a day to design. Oh, yeah with a personal maid and chef.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these fun little tid-bits about Celeste! It’s always great to feel like you know at least a little something about someone before you meet them in person, and I am so excited to meet Celeste next weekend! One thing I was VERY excited to learn about that wasn’t included in her interview is that she also designs for paper, and just had a Project Life core kit revealed! How fun is that?!
Celeste has generously offered a special coupon for DNO newsletter subscribers, so be looking for that first thing tomorrow (Monday) morning. (If you’re not already subscribed, you can do that HERE.) I’ll leave you with links to connect with Celeste, and don’t forget to register for our August 3rd event in Midvale! Tickets are $15 in advance, or $20 at the door, so buy now and save!
